Revenge in Perspective
By: Max Sprinkle
Revenge is the sweet taste of watermelon on a hot summer day.
It is the hickory scent from a campfire.
It’s the feeling of knowing he’ll get what he deserves.
It is watching the man who did you wrong suffer a slow agonizing end.
It is the sound of a man pleading for his life to be spared, when his cries fall on your deaf ears.
Revenge is the taste of mold on a slice of bread, bitter poison.
It is the stench of the skunk rotting in the blazing sun by the roadside
It’s the feeling of always looking over your shoulder, expecting to see your end.
It is the gruesome sight of witnessing a holocaust.
Revenge is the sound of your pleas for your life spared, only to fall on deaf ears
Resulting in more pain.
