One man in the dark
On an empty stage.
Standing in silence.
The house, vacant.
A dim spotlight hits him.
His voice trembles as he begins.
"Hello," he starts
A door opens.
His voice clears and builds in strength,
A woman enters through the open door.
She moves toward him.
He stumbles, She stops.
"Don't leave," he pleas
She looks to him and smiles.
He smiles back, and speaks.
She likes what she hears.
She moves toward him again.
He introduces himself,
She, herself.
She reaches him.
They embrace, but
She pushes him away
Staring into him.
He opens his mouth to speak,
But is silenced by her fingers.
She turns to leave.
Her foot steps echo in the dark.
The door creaks to a close.
He is left there.
Alone, on a now darkened stage,
The house is empty again.
